Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly
in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history. Ambrose Everett Burnside, born Indiana 1824, Military Academy graduation 1847, Apache arrow wound 1849, resignation 1853. In 1861 he was recalled to the Union colours and rose rapidly to the rank of Major General. It was to be promotion beyond his level of competance and led to a number of defeats at the hands of the Confederates and his resignation in 1865. However, his lasting legacy has been his unusual facial hair which has gone down in history as ‘side burns’. |
